Bedlington Terrier Association Judges List Criteria
The Bedlington Terrier Association’s Judges Lists list shall be in five parts, namely A1, A2, A3, B and C.
The minimum judging experience for inclusion on the lists shall be as follows plus the agreement to write a critique and submit it for publication to the Canine press and the Bedlington Terrier Association Bulletin.
A1 list Persons who have previously been approved to award CC’s to Bedlington Terriers by the Kennel Club, have carried ou
the appointment and have the support of the Bedlington Terrier Association (K.C.)
A2 list Persons who, fulfil the requirements for the A3 list, have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements,
have the support of the Bedlington Terrier Association and, if invited to judge by a Society would in principle be
approved by the Kennel Club to award CC’s in Bedlingtons for that occasion.
A3 list Breed Specialist.
1. To have a minimum of 7 years’ experience of judging Bedlington Terriers and have the support of the Bedlington Terrier Association.
2. To have judged at 1 Bedlington Terrier Association Club Show or 1 Championship show without CC’s.
3. To have judged Bedlingtons at 5 Open Shows.
4. To have judged a minimum of 30 classes of Bedlington Terriers
5. To have judged a minimum of 60 dogs
6. To have bred and or owned a minimum of 3 Bedlington Terriers when they obtained their first entry into the Kennel
Club Stud Book. (Save in exceptional circumstances)
7. To have attended at least one Bedlington Terrier specific seminar run in accordance with the Kennel Club Code of
Best Practice.
8. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, and have passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures.
9. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement.
10. To Have attended a Conformation and Movement “Hands on Assessment” conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited
Trainer and passed the assessment.
11. To have stewarded over a minimum of 12 days at shows.
12. To have been actively involved in breeding/exhibiting Bedlington Terriers for a minimum of 10 years.
A3 list Non Specialist
1.To have a minimum of 7 years judging experience in any breed (to include 5 years judging Bedlington Terriers)
and have the support of the Bedlington Terrier Association
2. To have judged at 1 Bedlington Association Club Show or 1 Championship show without CCs.
3. To have judged Bedlingtons at 5 Open Shows.
4. To have judged a minimum of 40 classes of Bedlington Terriers
5. To have judged a minimum of 80 dogs
6. To have awarded CC’s in at least one other breed
7. To have attended at least one Bedlington Terrier specific seminar run in accordance with the Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and have passed an examination and /or assessment where applicable.
8. To have stewarded over a minimum of 12 days at shows.
9. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs of any breed when they obtained their first entry into the Kennel Club Stud Book. (save in exceptional circumstances)
B list For judges who have been approved by the BTA to judge at shows without CC’s or Open Shows and be suitable to judge at least four classes of Bedlingtons Terriers
Breed Specialist.
1. To have 7 years’ experience owning and exhibiting Bedlington Terriers and have the support of the BTA
2. To have judged 16 classes of Bedlingtons at Open Shows
3. To have judged 30 Bedlington Terriers, 24 of which must
be different dogs
4. To have attended 1 Bedlington Terrier judging seminar and
passed an assessment.
5. To write and submit a critique for publication in the canine press as well as on the Bedlington Terrier Association website.
Non Breed Specialist
1. To have a minimum of 7 years Judging experience in any one breed, 5 years in Bedlington Terriers, and to have the
support of the Bedlington Terrier Association.
2. To have judged 20 classes of Bedlington Terriers at Open Shows or Championship Shows without CC’s.
3. To have judged 35 Bedlington Terriers, 30 of which must be different dogs.
4. To have attended 1 Bedlington Terrier judging seminar and passed an assessment.
5. To have attended Bedlington Terrier Association Shows would be considered an asset.
6. To write and submit a critique for publication in the canine press as well as on the Bedlington Terrier Association website
C list Aspirant Judges who have shown an interest in the breed, have attended Bedlington Terrier Association Shows and have
the support of the Bedlington Terrier Association.
